Throughout history, tales of love and betrayal have captivated the hearts and minds of people. One such captivating story is that of the two wives of Judah, a prominent figure in ancient Israel. This intriguing tale delves into the complexities of relationships, deception, and the consequences of one's actions.

:

Judah, a son of the patriarch Jacob, played a significant role in the history of the Israelites. His story unfolds with a blend of love, tragic loss, and ultimate redemption. But at the heart of it all lies a tale of two wives, Tamar and Shelah, whose lives become entwined in a web of secrecy and betrayal.

The First Wife: Tamar

Tamar, a Canaanite woman, married Judah's eldest son, Er. Their union was short-lived, as Er died unexpectedly, leaving Tamar widowed and childless. In accordance with the ancient Israelite custom of levirate marriage, Tamar was given to Er's brother, Onan. However, Onan also met an untimely death for his wickedness, leaving Tamar widowed once again but still without an heir.

Tamar, determined to fulfill her duty and preserve her lineage, devised a plan to conceive a child with Judah himself. She disguised herself as a prostitute and seduced her unsuspecting father-in-law. This plan succeeded, and Tamar became pregnant with twins. But her actions, though borne out of desperation, would have far-reaching consequences.

The Second Wife: Shelah

Following the deaths of his two eldest sons, Judah became cautious and hesitant to give Tamar to his youngest son, Shelah, fearing he may also meet an untimely death. Shelah, unaware of his father's true intentions, grew into adulthood while Tamar remained in waiting, hoping to fulfill her destiny as the mother of Judah's heirs.

As years went by, it became apparent to Tamar that Judah had no intention of fulfilling his promise to give Shelah to her in marriage. Feeling betrayed and desperate once again, she took matters into her own hands.

The Fateful Encounter

Tamar heard that Judah was visiting a nearby town, and she seized this opportunity to reveal her true identity. Donning the attire of a widow, she positioned herself on Judah's path. Upon seeing her, Judah assumed she was a prostitute and sought her services. Negotiating a deal, Tamar asked for collateral in the form of Judah's seal, cord, and staff.

After their encounter, Tamar returned home and sent back Judah's belongings, effectively revealing her true identity and shattering Judah's preconceptions. Faced with the reality of his own actions, Judah acknowledged Tamar's righteousness and his own wrongdoings.

Resolution and Redemption

Time passed, and Tamar's pregnancy became apparent. When news reached Judah of his daughter-in-law's condition, he was initially furious, believing she had acted immorally. However, Tamar presented Judah with the items he had left in her possession, proving his wrongdoing. In a moment of truth, Judah confessed to his sin and acknowledged Tamar's righteousness.

Tamar gave birth to twins, Perez and Zerah, both of whom would play significant roles in the future of Israel. Perez became an ancestor of King David and, through lineage, of Jesus Christ himself.

The story of the two wives of Judah in Israel is a testament to the indomitable spirit of Tamar and the power of redemption. It serves as a reminder that our actions, no matter how desperate or deceptive, have consequences. It sheds light on the complexities of human relationships and the importance of facing one's mistakes.

This tale has been passed down through generations, teaching us about the resilience and strength of the women who shaped history. It reminds us that even in the midst of deception and hardship, love, redemption, and divine providence can prevail.

So let the story of the two wives of Judah in Israel be a lesson to us all, a tale that teaches us to be mindful of our choices, to strive for righteousness, and to believe in the power of redemption.

Have you ever heard the saying, “A Kingdom divided against itself cannot stand?”

Throughout history, we have seen this happen time and time again. With the simple idea in mind that if you divide a nation from within it will fall.

Israel was a nation that dwelt safely within its land; until King Solomon went after idols, married women who worshiped other gods.

That was the beginning of the fall, in the division of the Kingdom of Israel.

From that moment forward YAHUAH rent the Kingdom from King Solomon; He left two tribes under King Solomon's son Rehoboam and gave the northern ten tribes to Jeroboam.
Since then, we have had a history of these Kingdoms being broken off going their separate ways; with
Judah being found faithful to the covenant of YAHUAH and Israel being found wayward and going after idolatry and going after idols.

Take a look at 1 Kings 11:11, it reads, "Wherefore the Lord said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant."

See, disobedience to this covenant in this law, that YAHUAH gave us will either bring peace and obedience or bring division and rebellion. In the end of days, YAHUAH promises that these two Kingdoms will no longer be separated.

These two kingdoms, Israel and Judah, will be united together and He will make them one stick in His hand. Then He will place his Spirit upon us that we may walk in his law, follow his statutes and Commandments once again.

Go to
Ezekiel 37:22-25, it states, "And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all." 23, "Neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions: but I will save them out of all their dwelling places, wherein they have sinned, and will cleanse them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God." 24, "And David my servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them." 25, "And they shall dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob my servant, wherein your fathers have dwelt; and they shall dwell therein, even they, and their children, and their children's children for ever: and my servant David shall be their prince forever."

YAHUAH gives us

  • His Spirit so that we can walk in His laws,
  • He gives us a heart of flesh and removes the heart of stone from us so that we can be obedient to those laws and to be obedient to the covenant that he gave us

. Go to
Ezekiel 36:26-27, it reads, "A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh." 27, "And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them."

In the future, the house of Judah and the Kingdom of Israel; the two wives will become one house again under the Messiah.
